A video of President-elect Bernardo Arévalo is circulating on social networks with a different tone from his other messages, with a well-crafted production and with many meanings.
In this video, President Arévalo invites Guatemalans to have an attitude of integrity, that is, to respect the law, to avoid corruption and to defend democracy.
An important point of the message is that it is not only directed at his supporters, it is also directed at those who oppose his government, at the supporters of other factions, at those who are waging war on him, an unusual attitude in national politics. , where opponents are generally not given space.
This is an example of the paradigm shift that is being experienced with a view to the new government, leaving behind paradoxical thoughts that divide, such as left and right, rich and poor, ladino or indigenous, men and women, etc. It is these divisions that break the social fabric, destroy our identity and hurt the harmony and development of the country.
This call from the president invites us to develop a comprehensive life, for people to be whole and an integrated society, the only path to development. A society that is broken, divided and subjugated by one group cannot prosper.
Although the fight against corruption is important, because it exercises short-term mechanisms to avoid the looting and waste of resources, a long-term policy is also required and that must be directed towards an education of integrity.
According to the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), integrity comes from the term integral, which refers to a complete, full, intact being; Likewise, someone is recognized as having integrity when they are decent, honest, I will prove it, recto, impeccable, honorable, honored, irreproachable, incorruptible, insobornable.
It seems that in our culture these values have been relegated to a thing of the past, devaluing their meaning and detracting from the people who practice it, arguing that they do not take advantage of opportunities, that they do not want to grab when they can, even that they are “stupid” if they let go. the opportunity to reach a position to do business.
Integrity is learned at home, at school, in the church, in the community, but it is necessary for someone to make it evident and that is the State, through the Executive powers, Congress and the Justice sector, setting the example with his actions.
A society that is managed by the values of integrity has many advantages that lead to the human development of its inhabitants, the growth of its economy and the consolidation of its companies.
The nations that maintain the most conflicts are the ones that develop the leastbecause they waste their time collecting their dead, healing wounds, taking revenge on their counterpart; The more chaos there is, the more entropy is generated.this means that nothing that is produced can flower or grow.
I take President Arévalo’s message personally and make it my own. From wherever I act, I am committed to promulgating integrity, in my family, my businesses, my university classes, my social relationships and my personal life. I invite you to make the crusade stronger to establish an integral society and begin a new stage in our history.
