Light is only half the storyarranged for voices, guitar and organ, singer and composer Linda Leen will perform together with her friends – guitarist Rihards Efej-Lībieti, vocal group Midnight Five and organist Jāni Pelši. The concert is conceived as a duet of light and darkness and created as a mosaic of emotional halftones. The program includes both familiar Christmas music and music that will surprise the listeners. Classic. Tonight and tomorrow, December 14 and 15, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO) together with its artistic director and chief conductor Tarmo Peltokoski will present a program of Finnish music in the Great Guild. The classic Jean Sibelius suite will be played Lemminkinens and the Violin Concerto by Essa Pekas Salonen, a prominent contemporary composer and conductor, in which the young Finnish violinist Tami Pohjola will play solo.

On Friday, December 15, in the White Hall of Rundāle Palace, the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra and soprano Gunta Gelgote, led by the Lithuanian conductor Modestas Barkauskas, will perform a magnificent classical program. Gunta Gelgote will perform a motet by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Shout for joy and the emotional songs of Franz Schubert. Joseph Haydn’s Sixth Symphony will also be played Morning and Schubert Overture in the Italian style.

Premiere. Director Ivars Lūsis has staged a comedy by the contemporary English playwright Peter Quilter in the Daugavpils theater Captive of the snow. Yuliya Liha will play together with Ivara Lusi in the show. Captive of the Snow is a touching story about two opposites who were trapped under the same roof by the elements of nature and perhaps also by someone’s conscious intention. Director Ivars Lusi can be called the master of comedies of the Daugavpils Theater: many of his productions (The scary housewives, Love to the point of losing your mind, Business class room, Lie detector, Psychic battle and Love in 32 square meters) enjoys the love of the audience and a long stage life – up to eight years.
