Hasbro Corporation, which owns dozens of companies (including Wizards of the Coast), announced large-scale layoffs. In total, management plans to lay off 1,100 employees out of 6,400, despite the fact that earlier this year 800 workers had already lost their jobs.
CEO Chris Cox told employees that the layoffs are “a lever that needs to be pulled to keep Hasbro healthy.”
We are confident in Hasbro’s future, but the current environment demands more from us, even if these decisions will be some of the most difficult. I know this news is especially difficult during the holiday season. There is no way to sugarcoat how difficult this is, especially for the employees directly affected.
Chris Cox became CEO of Hasbro last February. Over the past year, he earned $9.4 million from this post.
There is no information about which Hasbro divisions will be affected by the cuts.
