“Revival”: Total ban on gambling advertising

Revival: Total ban on gambling advertising

“Vazrazhdane” proposes to completely ban the advertising of gambling games. This is provided for by amendments to the Law on Gambling submitted to the Parliament.

The goal is to reduce the number of people addicted to gambling, and in addition to the ban on advertising, changes are foreseen in the register of vulnerable persons, an increase in the contribution for socially responsible behavior, making it a percentage of the bets made.

From “Vazrazhdane” they propose that the distribution of the money from the contribution should be for the sports clubs, Olympic training of the athletes, for the management and construction of sports facilities. It is planned to increase the taxes and the rate and make it the same for all types of gambling, with the taxation being 15% on bets everywhere.

“For a very large part of the games it was like this before 2014, only for the games in gaming halls and gaming casinos it was not like that, but we propose that it be the same everywhere, that it be 15% on the bets made”, commented the deputy from ” Revival” Kliment Shopov. According to him, since the creation of the register of vulnerable persons in December last year, 26,000 people have been registered up to now.

“That’s 80 people a day who sign up in this register. These are people who are self-aware that they have a gambling problem.”

In the “Revival” bill, it is stipulated that the payment of winnings will not be 5,000 BGN in cash, as at the moment, but up to 10,000 BGN, but at the same time, the payments will be ordered when the player wishes.

“Right now what’s happening is that on, say, Friday night, the person has won some amount of money. The casino tells him, we will give you 5000 BGN in cash, but we will transfer the rest to you on Monday, your money is here, you can continue playing if you want, and that way the person stays in the casino, until Monday there is nothing, even it may have all gone to waste.”
