The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) punished the Ukrainian Football Association for racist behavior of fans at the Euro 2024 qualifying match with the Italian team.
The meeting took place on November 20 in Leverkusen and ended with a score of 0:0.
“For the racist behavior of its fans, fine the Ukrainian Football Association 20 thousand euros and order a partial closure of the Ukrainian Football Association stadium during the next (one) match under the auspices of UEFA, in which it will play as the host association,” the message on the website says UEFA.
The Ukrainian Football Association must inform UEFA before the start of the next match which sector (or sectors) will be closed. The total number of seats in closed sectors must be at least 5,000 seats.
The Ukrainian national team finished in third place in Group C with 14 points and will play in the playoffs for the right to play at Euro 2024. Its first rival will be Bosnia and Herzegovina. The winner of this match will play at home against the best team from the confrontation between the national teams of Israel and Iceland. The Ukrainian national team plays home matches outside the country.
The European Championship will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024.
