ROME – Former Italian footballer Antonio Juliano died at the age of 80.
The highlight of his career was the gold medal at the European Championship in 1968. He left the most significant mark in his native Naples, for which he played over 500 matches.
In the “Partenopei” jersey, he triumphed in the Coppa Italia, Coppa delle Alpi and also in the Anglo-Italian League Cup. He ended his career in 1979 after a season with Bologna, then returned to Naples in the position of sports director.

In 1984, he played an important role in the recruitment of Diego Maradona. During his playing career, he played for Italy in 18 matches, in addition to gold from the European Championship, he also had silver from the 1970 World Cup in his collection of achievements.
“Today is one of the saddest days in the history of Naples,” the club said on social networks.
