Voting results of the special session of the United Nations General Assembly (SMU) (PBB) in New York was done to force a truce between the forces Israel and Hamas in Palestine, Tuesday (12/12) afternoon local time.

As a result, 153 countries supported the ceasefire and only 10 countries rejected it. Among the countries that refused, apart from Israel and the United States, was neighboring Indonesia.

Meanwhile, 23 other countries chose to abstain. Among the countries that abstained were England, Argentina, Italy and Ukraine.

Quoted from CNNthe vote came after Egypt used resolution 377A to urge the UN General Assembly to discuss the increasingly worrying situation in Gaza.

Egypt used resolution 377A to “fight” the United States, which vetoed the latest UN Security Council draft resolution regarding the ceasefire in Gaza last week.

Efforts to draft a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution regarding a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza continue to be initiated by various countries to stop the war.

This resolution again failed to reach agreement because of the veto given by the United States.

The resolution proposed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is not only related to a ceasefire, but also demands the unconditional release of all hostages and the opening of humanitarian access, quoted from UN Press.

Despite being blocked by permanent members, the text of the resolution received support from 13 Council members, including three permanent members (China, France and the Russian Federation) and the UK abstained.

The following is a list of 10 countries that have rejected a ceasefire regarding the Israel-Hamas war at the UN, one of which is neighboring Indonesia.

1. Austria
2. Czech
3. Guatemala
4. Israel
5. Liberia
6. Micronesia
7. Nauru
8. Papua New Guinea
9. Paraguay
10. United States
