Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Apple will overhaul the iPad series starting next year. This was done to make it less confusing for consumers, as well as to revive sagging iPad sales.
The new iPad Pro and iPad Air series will reportedly arrive in March next year. Apple itself is not releasing a new iPad in 2023.
iPad sales reportedly fell 3% from fiscal 2022 to fiscal 2023, after falling 8% in the previous year. iPad revenue in the company’s fiscal fourth quarter fell 10% YoY after Apple predicted double-digit declines in the iPad and Mac segments.
Apple reportedly wants to make it easier for users to differentiate between iPad models and is also planning significant upgrades.
The company from Cupertino now has a line of iPads consisting of two sizes of iPad Pro, iPad Air, 10th generation iPad, 9th generation iPad and iPad mini.
Accessories, such as keyboards and Apple Pencils, as well as chargers, vary depending on the model consumers want to buy.
The large number of iPad series on the market makes it confusing compared to other Apple products.
Apple plans to make the iPad series, iPad Pro as the top model, Air as the middle model and the 11th generation iPad at the bottom, according to a report quoted from CNBC International, Tuesday (12/12/2023).
Upcoming changes to the iPad Pro reportedly include a better screen, an M3 chip, a new design, and a new Magic Keyboard that only works with the iPad Pro.
The new iPad Air is said to have two screen sizes and an M2 chip.
Apple will reportedly release an updated iPad mini and an 11th generation iPad, allowing the company to discontinue the ninth generation version. The report did not detail a release schedule.
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
