Canada is churning out hockey talent.
Jaxon Jacobson may be a name to remember even now.
The 14-year-old scored two goals in his WHL debut.
He may have turned 15 since his debut last Saturday, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that he was ahead of both Connor McDavid and Connor Bedard into the CHL, which is the umbrella organization for the three major junior leagues in Canada.
Jaxon Jacobson was born in 2008 and thus is not available to the NHL teams until the 2027 draft, but his statistics have already raised many eyebrows.
Two seasons ago, the left-handed forward scored a whopping 103 points in just 32 games in the WHL club Brandon Wheat Kings’ U15 team.
“I just shot”
And last year there were 60 pins in 48 games in the U18 team.
When he made his WHL debut this weekend, he became the youngest player at 34 to play in the league. He also scored two goals.
– I saw that they missed a pass in their build-up and I tried to take advantage of it. We passed a little too much tonight, so I just went in and shot. Then it went in. I was quite excited, says the teenager after the match, which Brandon won 5-4.

Canadian Junior Hockey
The Canadian Hockey League (CHL) is the umbrella organization for the three major regional leagues in the country. They are the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and the Western Hockey League (WHL). In total, the leagues have 60 teams, of which 51 are located in Canada and nine are located in the United States.
The regional leagues play their own playoffs where the winners (including a host team) then settle for the Memorial Cup, which is awarded to the nation’s top junior team at the end of the season.
The Quebec Remparts (QMJHL) won last season’s final against the Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL).
