General Electric Signs Agreement to Upgrade North Shuaiba Power Station Gas Turbines at COP28 Conference

Yesterday, the American company General Electric signed an agreement with the company responsible for maintaining and operating the North Shuaiba power generation and water distillation station for a period of five years, aiming to upgrade and rehabilitate the three gas turbines in the station, which have a capacity of 876 megawatts.
The announcement of the signing of the agreement came on the sidelines of a ceremony held at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai.
The General Electric Company’s side at the ceremony was represented by the gas energy business unit “General Electric Veronova”, while the North Shuaiba station was represented by the Malaysian-Kuwaiti alliance that operates the station.
The North Shuaiba power station consists of three electricity generating blocks, each of which is equipped with a 9F.03 gas turbine and a generator from General Electric Veronova.
The agreement stipulated that the latter would upgrade the current combustion technology installed on the three gas turbines to the more advanced “Dry Lo Nox DLN2.6+” combustion system, providing improved combustion operability and lower levels of emissions.
