Vox Councilors Demand Uniform Protocols and Urgent Vaccine for Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHE)

The Vox councilors with responsibilities for Agriculture and the Rural World in the governments of Castilla y León, Aragón, the Valencian Community and Extremadura have once again addressed a letter to the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, in which they reiterate the request so that the Ministry establishes homogeneous criteria (and the same protocols throughout Spain) in the face of Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHE). In addition, they demand that, as a matter of urgency, research and development of initiatives be promoted that make it possible to have available, as soon as possible, a mandatory vaccine that protects the livestock herd.

In this new letter, signed by the councilors of Castilla y León, Aragón, the Valencian Community and Extremadura, they point out that “the EHE represents a strong blow for the livestock sector, which has been suffering for some time from increases in production costs, to which greater economic losses are added due to this disease.”

“With this new letter, we want to convey the concern that livestock farmers have expressed to us about the unexpected evolution this year, especially due to the rapid spread throughout practically the entire national territory, and also due to the high number of animals affected by EHE. “, highlight the counselors.

They also ask that the necessary coordination protocols be established with homogeneous criteria throughout Spain, in which the conditions for the movements of animals to other member states (including fighting animals) are also transparently reported. “We consider that it is essential that research and development of initiatives be urgently promoted and strengthened to make available, as soon as possible, a mandatory vaccine that protects the livestock herd,” they conclude.
