Former Russian Consul General in Iran Konstantin Alekseev died in Moscow.
According to the Shot telegram channel, the diplomat’s body was discovered by his wife. The cause of death was stroke.
“According to our information, late yesterday evening Alekseev became ill in his own apartment on Veernaya Street. The diplomat died at around 10:30 p.m., his body was discovered by his wife, who called the doctors,” the TK publication says.
The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed information about the death of the former Consul General of the Russian Federation in Iran.
“With regret we confirm the message that appeared in the media about the death on December 12 … of the former Consul General of the Russian Federation in Rasht (Iran) Konstantin Alekseev. The circumstances of the incident are being clarified,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Konstantin Alekseev worked as Russian Consul General in Iran from 2015 to 2019. Before that, he held the position of Minister Counselor at the Russian Embassy in Iran and worked in the Second Asian Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
