Pathanamthitta: The Central Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in Pathanamthitta district on Tuesday due to the possibility of heavy rain. Chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain is expected in 24 hours.

It is feared that the heavy rains in Pathanamthitta will further overwhelm the Ayyappa devotees who are stuck on the Sabarimala route. On Pathanamthitta road Ilavungal-Plapalli and Ilavungal-Kanamala roads via Ezhumeli, a long line of vehicles is felt for a distance of ten kilometers.

As it rains, the people in the vehicles will be in more trouble. Since Plapalli is a forested area, it will be difficult to go out and have food. Moreover, the nuisance of leeches is severe.
