Swiss banks began to write off fees for servicing blocked accounts of Russians – Meduza

Some large Swiss banks charge commissions for servicing the frozen assets of Russian clients. Vedomosti writes about this with reference to sources.

One of the publication’s interlocutors spoke about cases of accrual of commissions for several years in advance. “The idea is that there is an account, it needs to be serviced, it doesn’t matter that a person cannot use the service, in fact it is still provided,” says the interlocutor.

Two other sources of the publication also heard about the accrual of commissions, but not for years in advance.

Vedomosti asked the largest banks to comment on this information. PostFinance reported that it does not charge commissions on blocked assets, and the rest refused to comment or ignored the request.

As of November 2023 in Switzerland were assets worth 7.7 billion francs ($8.8 billion) are blocked.
