Calls for a boycott of Israeli products as a trend | Madhyamam

Gaza: A call to boycott Israeli products is trending on social media as a protest against Israel’s human rights abuses in Gaza. Boycott calls are widely circulated on X, Tik Tok and WhatsApp groups.

Various apps have also been launched to find products to be boycotted. The ‘No Thanks’ app, designed by Ahmed Bashbash, a Palestinian currently living in Hungary, has become very popular. Launched on November 13, the app has been downloaded by over 100,000 people. It is arranged in such a way that if the barcode is scanned, if it is an Israeli product, it will show ‘No thanks’ in red.

A list of products to be banned has been provided on the website. Adidas, Ariel, Amazon, Carrefour, Burger King, Coco Cola, Dell, Disney, Dow, Fanta, Gillette, Head and Shoulder, H&M, HP, Intel, KFC, Lace, Lipton, L’Oreal , McDonald’s, Mercedes Benz, Mountain Dew, Mac, Nescafe, Oreo, Oral B, Pampers, Pepsi, Pizza Hut, Puma, Siemens, Snickers, Sprite, Star Bucks, Walmart, Walt Disney, Zara, Seven Up, 5 Star, Ajinomoto , Bloomberg, Bondi and many more familiar and unfamiliar companies are on the boycott list.

The boycott is already reflected in the business of corporations that support Israel. Starbucks alone suffered a loss of 1300 crore dollars (more than one lakh crore rupees). Various organizations and others have called for a boycott of Israeli companies and the companies that provide them with financial and technical support.
