The succession is assured. Enrico Macias is the father of two children, born from his marriage to Suzy Leyris (died in 2008): Jocya and Jean-Claude. “They are also artists, they have that in their genes,” he confided to “50 minutes inside”, in 2022.
“My daughter sings really well and my son works with me. He’s a great conductor, he’s a great composer and a great musician,” the singer of “Filles de mon pays” proudly added. And, obviously, the music gene has also been passed on to the next generation.
Symon Macias, music legacy
Indeed, one of Enrico Macias’ six grandchildren is also a singer. This is Symon, 29, who released two first singles in 2019, then another single and an EP in 2021, before unveiling his first album, entitled “Comme tout le monde”, in June 2022.
Symon Macias, however, never imagined himself following in his grandfather’s footsteps. He played the guitar simply “to impress the friends and the girls at school”, he slipped into an interview with “ Gala » in 2022. And he was studying law which didn’t interest him…
“I was depressed. I saw my friends starting to find their way, but I didn’t know where I was going. Emotionally, things weren’t going well either. I felt like a failure,” he confided. And it was thanks to a helping hand from Enrico Macias that he finally got started.
