The City Council of the Sevillian town of Los Palacios y Villafranca has sent both the territorial delegate of Development, Francisco de Paula José Juárez, and the manager of the Metropolitan Transport Consortium of the Seville Area, Juan Carlos García, information about the “worrying increase in complaints” presented by bus users of the M-134 Los Palacios-Sevilla line.
The mayor, Juan Manuel Valle, has also requested an “urgent” meeting from both officials to discuss these issues that “are of great concern to the City Council and the citizens,” as the City Council has recognized. The palace mayor has conveyed by letter “the worrying increase in daily complaints transferred by users of line M-134″.
Few buses available
In the letters, it is recalled that “we have been communicating for months that the number of buses and services offered by the Consortium are not sufficient to adequately meet the demand of citizens of Los Palacios and Villafranca who use public transport and who suffer delays every day to be able to get on a bus that takes them to Seville or Dos Hermanas for their daily tasks and obligations, such as attending an appointment medical, to your study center or your workplace.
According to the City Council’s account, “every morning unfortunate situations are experienced at the two stops in the town” with “users who have to wait, being at the stop more than half an hour in advance, to see if it is possible to get a seat at the desired time, and who are still forced to look for themselves other alternatives or arriving late to your destination.
The reinforcement buses that until now solved “part of the problem at rush hours”, both on the way out from Los Palacios and Villafranca in the morning and on the return from Seville during midday, “are no longer enough either.” In addition, the frequency of buses that pass through the town of Dos Hermanas, with a stop at the Valme Hospital, “still not meeting the needs of the neighbors“said the councilor.
To all this we must add, according to what was reported by the palace mayor, that in recent weeks the inconveniences and delays generated by different breakdowns in the buses have become increasingly more frequent, and complaints about “lack of cleanliness and maintenance” on the vehicles that provide services on the M-134 line.
Therefore,” once again, the City Council regrets the deterioration that is being suffered in the provision of the interurban public transport service, the responsibility of the Department of Development of the Government of Andalusia and the Metropolitan Transport Consortium of the Seville Area.” Therefore, it has urged “to take the necessary corrective measures urgently to improve the quality of services”.
