In an interview with the English newspaper “The Guardian”, Douglas Ramos, Endrick’s father, said that his son visited Chelsea’s facilities, but when the deal was finalized he backed away.

Chelsea would pay around 60 million euros (R$319 million at current prices) to have Endrick, who at the time was 16 years old and would still remain in the squad. Palm trees for two more seasons until he could move to England.

– I can’t say 100% because I hadn’t signed it yet, but the deal was closed. I had already thought that I would live in London with all that cold. But then, at night, my son’s representative called and said that the Chelsea owner backed out of the deal because the price they would have to pay for Endrick would inflate the market – Endrick’s father revealed.

Endrick was traded for Palm trees with Real Madrid for 35 million euros (R$ 194.9 million), but with the final value reaching 72 million euros (around R$ 400 million at the signing time).

The bonuses for the entire contract could yield an additional 25 million euros to Verdão. For every five goals he scores, limited to 25 in the period, Verdão pockets around R$13 million. This year, 14 goals were scored and two goals were achieved.

Most of the goals set out in the contract are considered to have a good chance of being achieved, as they are linked to Endrick’s performance at Verdão and his start in Spain.
