Author Thankful for Mother and Influential Figures at Ceremony

During the ceremony, she took the time to express her extensive thanks, including for her mother: “My mother is also here, she is my great example. I also tease her in my texts, but she can accept that, she is very intelligent. And she gave me a love of literature, so I would certainly like to thank her.” She sees the fact that she is following in the footsteps of Jan De Wilde and Jan Decleir, among others, as a great compliment.

The presence of Herman Brusselmans, Johan Braeckman and her publisher Sam De Graeve at the ceremony also made her happy: “I invited Herman Brusselmans because I feel related to him. He is also irreverent, rebellious and reckless, but a stylistically strong writer Johan Braeckman also has that mockery.
