Tijuana.- The government of Baja California requested 100 thousand vaccines against Covid-19, additional to the 140 thousand it received in the month of October, to be applied to the vulnerable population and those over 60 years of age, indicated Adrián Medina Amarillas, owner of the Ministry of Health in the state.
“They are going to send us 100,000 vaccines to have a sufficient number of doses while winter arrives,” he said.

Medina Amarillas indicated that they have already applied “a little” more than 100,000 vaccines, since the shipment arrived from the Abdala laboratory, as part of the National Vaccination Campaign for the 2023-24 winter season.
The head of the Ministry of Health in Baja California said he did not know if the 100 thousand doses that will arrive will be Abdala or from another laboratory.
“I know that the federal government also acquired Sputnik V, we are waiting for the Federation to tell us which one exactly they are going to send us,” he said.
There is still no established date on which the new consignment of vaccines will be sent, but Medina Amarillas estimated that it could be in the coming weeks.
He added that a large number of older adults and people with some immunological vulnerability have not yet come to be vaccinated, so the authorities are not considering expanding vaccination to other age ranges.
Medina Amarillas said that “fortunately” there has not been an increase in Covid-19 infections in the state.
“There has been no rebound, we do not have a new wave of infections in Baja California, nor do our neighbors, which is what worries us that there will be an exchange of variants of the virus,” commented Medina Amarillas.
He noted that there are currently no hospitalized people or deaths in recent weeks due to Covid-19 and some of its variants.
