This is the reason the UN has stopped aid to areas of Yemen controlled by the Houthis
SERAMBINEWS.COM – Yemeni residents in areas controlled by the Houthi group will face new problems.
Because the UN decided to stop sending food to the region.
This policy will cause local residents to lack food.
Moreover, food reserves are almost exhausted.
The UN food agency, the World Food Program (WFP), decided to stop sending aid to Yemeni areas controlled by the Houthis.
This step was taken partly because of a decrease in funding.
This confirmation was announced by WFP on Tuesday (5/12/2023).
They said this came after more than a year of donor consultations and negotiations failed to reach an agreement.
Quoting Al Jazeera, the agreement being discussed is related to reducing the number of people needing assistance to 6.5 million from 9.5 million.

“Food reserves in Houthi-controlled areas are currently almost depleted.
“Even if an agreement is reached in the near future, (deliveries) could take up to four months due to supply chain disruptions,” WFP said in a statement.
At the same time, WFP ensures that food distribution in government-controlled areas in Yemen will continue, especially to the most vulnerable families.
