LOT Polish Airlines and the National Museum in Warsaw presented a new joint project – safety video. A video presenting safety rules on board was recorded in the 19th Century Art Gallery. Paintings by Jan Matejko, Olga Boznańska, Jacek Malczewski and Józef Mehoffer were presented. The teacher of the pre-flight safety instructions is Krystyna Czubówna, well known to LOT passengers.
The video is circulating online, receiving positive feedback not only from Poles, but also from international aviation experts. These included a Facebook page popular among aviation fans called A Fly Guy’s Cabin Crew Lounge, which is followed by over 1.3 million people. Under the post showing the latest video of Polish airlines, you can already see over a thousand reactions and nearly 80 comments.
“This is what I admire so much about Poles. They are very proud of their achievements in art and science. They know who their great minds are and they are proud of them.
Everyone else, including me, would say they couldn’t name any. It was also a younger crew, which made an even greater impression,” wrote one of the administrators of the A Fly Guy’s Cabin Crew Lounge website under the video.
– Internet users praise. Some people point out the similarity of the concept to safety video French airline, which was first shown in 2021.
“It resembles the iconic AirFrance recording,” comments one of the Internet users, attaching the video, which has over 1.7 million views on YouTube.
The opinions also include the voices of passengers who point out that videos of this type may distract attention from the most important thing, i.e. safety instructions. However, this is standard procedure in airlines around the world.
Safety video, i.e. business and pleasure
The unexpected form of conveying safety instructions using museum interiors and works of art is intended to keep the viewer’s attention just before the trip, explains the LOT Polish Airlines marketing office.
— Apart from its obvious informational purpose, the film has an important image-building function. LOT is a Polish brand with a global reach. Through the presence of aircraft in foreign airports, we are not only a natural promoter of Poland and its best features, i.e. hospitality and kindness, but also a carrier of culture and national heritage – explains Ewa Lampart, director of the Marketing and Corporate Communications Office of LOT Polish Airlines.
Safety video is part of an important pre-flight procedure and is used by airlines around the world.
Pursuant to the Passengers safety briefing regulation developed by EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency), the airline is obliged to instruct passengers on safety on board. Safety video is material broadcast every time during preparation for a flight. In LOT Polish Airlines, it applies to flights operated by Boeing 787-8 and 9 Dreamliner aircraft.
