The Canadian company Envo Drive Systems presented a transforming electric car for all needs. The new product is called the Utility Personal Transporter (UPT), and it can be reconfigured into anything from a lawnmower to a golf cart or rescue vehicle.
The UPT features a lower center of gravity for increased stability and a design that allows for easy vehicle transformation. Through reconfiguration, which in most cases involves simply adding additional modules, it can serve as a mini truck, golf cart, lawnmower, snowplow, rescue vehicle or simply a compact electric vehicle.
Powered by four 3-kilowatt electric motors and eight lithium batteries, the UPT delivers 640 Nm of torque, a top speed of 50 km/h and a range of 100 to 200 km on a single charge. In addition, batteries can be used to power tools or other devices in the field.
And removing the transmission not only gives more usable space in the electric car, but also reduces the amount of maintenance and allows for individual traction control at each wheel.
As a bonus, the company has made the handlebar retractable to the main body to store the UPT vertically against a wall. This versatile electric car will cost around $14,000 and will start shipping within a year.
