Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Israeli army announced, on Sunday, the suspension of its military activity for a period of 4 hours, starting at 10 am local time, in the administrative district of Rafah, for humanitarian purposes.
This came in a blog post published by the Israeli army spokesman for the Arab media, Avichay Adraee, in which he said: “Urgent residents of the Gaza Strip, the IDF is working forcefully against Hamas and terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip, especially in the Khan Yunis area. Below are several urgent instructions: The IDF will be suspended. Local and temporary tactical military activities for humanitarian purposes in the administrative district of Rafah from 10:00 in the morning until 14:00 in the afternoon, for the purpose of supply.”
He continued: “The fighting and military advance of the Defense Army in the Khan Yunis area do not allow the movement of civilians through the Salah al-Din axis in the sections north and east of the city of Khan Yunis. The Salah al-Din axis in these sections constitutes a battlefield, so it is dangerous to reach it!”
He added: “The Defense Army will allow humanitarian movement of civilians through the bypass axis located west of Khan Yunis. Movement from the Rafah and Khan Yunis areas towards Deir al-Balah and the Central camps will be made possible through the following axes: Al-Rashid Street (Al-Bahr) – Al-Shuhadaa Street in Deir Al-Balah.”
