Belgian Prime Minister responds to Princess Delphine discrimination claims

According to Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, Belgian Princess Delphine is not discriminated against. De Croo said this in a response to the letter that Delphine’s lawyer wrote to him, VRT reports. According to the Prime Minister, Delphine is not invited to certain events because she does not have an official position.

“Princess Delphine is a member of the royal family, but has no official position. It has no mission and is not accountable to parliament and the government. That is as clear as pump water,” says De Croo.

The letter states that the princess feels unequally treated compared to her half-brother and sister Prince Laurent and Princess Astrid. She would not have been invited to King’s Day, but Laurent and Astrid were. In addition, Delphine feels that she is also treated differently when she is invited to events.
