A detective on the hunt for criminals

First part, tenth chapter – The second prison break

In the middle of the prison next to the police station, a criminal who was well known in LEGO City had been sitting in a dark cell for weeks. While others were happy about the free accommodation and food, this one was frustrated day after day. Not that he was annoyed by the exquisite menu, the three-hour morning exercise before sunrise (in summer and winter) wasn’t a problem either, no: he was not allowed to watch television in his cell. He would have even bought his own device, connected a parabolic antenna and listened only through headphones so as not to disturb the other prisoners, just so he could watch the latest crime stories, but no, the prison authorities were worried that he might get one of them Take escape attempts as a model and escape in the same way. From this description it is clear which crook of the city this was: Nuhr-een-Trithbretfara.

The – if Wihr-im-Kopp had his way – the most hated criminal in LEGO City, who did not hesitate to brag about not having planned a single coup himself, was arrested by the “Destroyer” himself after his most recent attacks. Now he was sitting in his cell and was the model prisoner par excellence, for the sole reason that he had forgotten how the prison inmates behaved in his films. Why should he have paid much attention to it? He was never arrested! The only difference he made from his role models was because the police in real life were so much stupider than in the movies. “An inspector on the hunt for criminals”. That says it all. How he would have loved to have been in the front row at the premiere of Part V in the cinema! This time a huge celebration was supposed to attract the interested audience (as you can see: a good film sells itself, one, well, another needs other incentives) and he would have liked to take part in the meet-and-greet-with-the-leading-actor event. An autograph from his greatest hero! He couldn’t know that this time it was Wihr-imm-Kopp, because Vühr-Rehschie wanted to keep it a secret in order to make the surprise all the greater. But Nuhr-een-Trithbretfara would probably have taken an autograph from the person who arrested him, since he was now the hero of his favorite film series. But nothing came of it, as he would spend many more years here. And always without a TV…

Now, about three months after his arrest, it still didn’t look like he would be released early for undisputed good behavior. Instead, what was probably his hundredth request for a television was rejected. But what applied to him as a prisoner did not also apply to the guards. Now it happened that a recently hired security guard was always bored at night and ended up taking a portable television with him so that he wouldn’t fall asleep. He also liked crime thrillers, so he almost only watched those types of programs. By chance the guardroom was directly opposite Nuhr-een-Trithbretfara’s cell and the guard was sitting so that the criminal could watch. After a few days, a film showed a wonderful prison break. The next morning, Nuhr-een-Trithbretfara had disappeared. / Simon
