Kottayam: The late CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran will leave Kerala today. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Sunday at Kochukalapurayadam homestead in Kottayam Kanam. Father V.K. Kanam has also been cremated near the place where Parameswaran Nair was cremated. Son Sandeep will light the pyre. The funeral will be with official honors. Religious activities are completely avoided.

Kanam Rajendran passed away at a private hospital in Kochi following a heart attack around 5:30 pm on Friday. He had been under treatment for some time due to heart disease and kidney disease due to diabetes. His right foot was recently amputated due to severe diabetes. He was on leave from the party for three months due to health problems. Kanam Rajendran, a member of the Central Secretariat and National Vice President of AITUC, was a member of the party’s State Council for 53 years.
