The head of state stated this in an interview with Euronews TV channel.
“Russia is a strategic partner of Kazakhstan. We have the longest land border in the world with Russia. And we have traditions of cooperation that need to be preserved or at least not abandoned. And I believe that, despite some turmoil in international arena, we will continue cooperation. And perhaps you are aware of the recent visit of the Russian President to Kazakhstan, which turned out to be very successful in terms of giving additional impetus to the development of cooperation between the two states,” Tokayev said, answering the question of how Astana sees their future relations with Moscow.
He noted that Russia is a good partner, a strategic partner of Kazakhstan and plays an important role in the modern world.
“Some argue that it plays a negative role, some that it plays a positive role. One way or another, we must admit that Russia is very important, and we need to cooperate with it, and Kazakhstan does this,” the head of the republic emphasized.
Commenting on Kazakhstan’s strategy in the international arena, Tokayev said that Kazakhstan pursues a diversified international policy.
“We have excellent relations with China, with our partners in Central Europe, as well as in Western Europe. And, of course, we have a strategic partnership with the United States. This is fully consistent with the geographical position of Kazakhstan, which is the ninth largest territory in the world Therefore, our policy will be constantly diversified,” noted the President of the Republic.
The Kazakh leader added that Astana is committed to international cooperation and can be a good partner for many countries.
“Kazakhstan is a country with an open market economy. And we believe that Kazakhstan can serve as a good partner for many countries. I think that Kazakhstan plays a very important role in our region, in Central Asia, and beyond,” Kassym said. Zhomart Tokayev.
