December 9-10, 2023: Red Level Magnetic Storm Expected Today, Subsiding Tomorrow – Solar and Geomagnetic Activity Forecast

A red level storm is expected today, which will subside by tomorrow.

Solar and geomagnetic activity forecast for the weekend of December 9-10, 2023 published US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Space Weather Prediction Center.

Geomagnetic storms are classified by power level – K-index – from 2 to 9. The higher the K-index, the stronger the storm and its consequences and impact on people and equipment.

Today, December 9, a fairly strong magnetic storm with a K-index of 6 (red level) is expected, which can affect people’s well-being. But tomorrow, December 10, its power will drop to a green level with index 3 and the magnetosphere will return to normal.

Let us recall that we previously wrote about whether solar flares and magnetic storms can affect human health.
