Apple recommends that users turn on Advanced Data Protection for iCloud to ensure end-to-end encryption. This is a security feature that Apple launched in 2022.

Once activated 23 categories of personal data, including iCloud Keychain passwords, Health data, iCloud backups, notes, and photos, are all encrypted. This can only be decrypted on trusted devices. This allows us to protect the majority of iCloud data even in the event of a cloud data breach.
