There are not many weeks left until Christmas is called and people’s traditions are many. Many are probably looking forward to eating good food, decorating the Christmas tree and, not least, pleasing family and friends with gifts.
Sharing happy news
The run-up to Christmas is also a time to have a little extra fun, and on the eve of last month there was a premiere of the world-famous musical “Annie” at the Folketeateret, which this Christmas will take the audience on a real “Winter Wonderland”.
Among those present was artist Maria Mena (37), who every year ensures that Norwegians get in the Christmas spirit with the song “Home for Christmas”.

In front of Dagbladet, Mena makes no secret of the fact that she is looking forward to Christmas, and she already has her plans in place.
– I will celebrate in Sandnes at the home of my loved one and his family, she says.
Calling for a new job
– Do you have any special Christmas traditions?
– I have my own. I think it’s because I went through, had some cohabitations and things I’ve brought with me that have become traditions. But I have had a tradition that is only mine, and that is that I have to watch “Love Actually” in my pajamas alone on Christmas Eve.

– So I don’t go home for Christmas until Christmas Eve itself, she adds.
Shouting trouble: “Worst ever”
When asked what is the worst Christmas present she has ever given, Mena is clearly unsure whether she should actually share it and takes a breath before answering:
– It’s so embarrassing that I almost start laughing. It’s absolutely terrible, but I received a sponsored gift. If you get something for free and pass it on as a gift, make sure you don’t attach a card that says “to Maria” and then pass that gift on, she says.

– What is the best and worst thing about Christmas?
– Now the best thing is to just relax. The best thing is that no one calls, everyone else has time off too, so I don’t feel bad about relaxing. The worst thing is probably the expectations, as long as I remove them, also for New Year’s Eve, which never turn out as I think, then it goes great.
