In the heat of Santiago del Estero, Argentina, the Dutch hockey players only achieved a big victory over arch-rival Argentina in the last quarter: 1-4. It was the second victory in two matches for the team of national coach Paul van Ass in the new Pro League season.
In a repeat of the last Olympic final and the last World Cup final, both won by the Netherlands, Argentina took the lead. Maria Granatto opened the score in the 18th minute from a penalty corner.
The 1-0 score stood for a long time, but in the 50th minute it was Eva Drummond, back with the Dutch team after more than a year, who scored the equalizer from a penalty corner. That goal by Drummond, formerly De Goede, gave the Netherlands wings.
Three more goals in three minutes

Argentina will play against Great Britain again on Saturday, the Netherlands will play against the British women again on Sunday and Argentina-Netherlands will play again on Monday in Santiago del Estero.
The Dutch hockey men will play against Argentina later tonight. The team of national coach Jeroen Delmee lost the first match 3-2 to Great Britain.
