This is how well BU insurers regulate
BU regulation is better than its reputation. The performance practice studies by Franke and Bornberg contributed to this insight. Across all illnesses, almost four out of five decisions will be in favor of the insured in 2022 (78.04 percent). This means that the rate remains stable compared to previous years. There are a number of reasons for rejections, primarily medical ones. In 58.6 percent of all rejections, the contractually agreed BU degree was not achieved. Contestations and resignations are the second most important cause at 20.41%.
Hannoversche increases interest rates
Hannoversche Lebensversicherung AG is raising the current interest rate from 2.25 to 2.40 percent. Including the final bonus, the total interest rate is around 2.8 percent. This increase is possible thanks to the general increase in interest rates. “We were able to keep our current interest rate stable for six years against the market trend. We are now pleased that our customers will be able to benefit from increased profit participation in 2024,” says CEO Frank Hilbert.
Christmas stress factor
According to a survey by HanseMerkur, eight out of ten Germans feel stressed at least occasionally during the Christmas season, just under one in five rarely or never: 30.6 percent “often” feel sweaty on their foreheads during the most wonderful time of the year, and 15 percent “always” . Pets also play a key role in reducing stress. A quarter (24.4 percent) cite giving up gifts as a preventive measure against Christmas stress. Of those surveyed who at least rarely feel stressed in the run-up to Christmas, 43 percent let pets calm them down with walks or cuddles.
Market standards in term life insurance with room for improvement
Half of term life insurers do not meet market standards with their tariffs. Only 29 out of 61 companies have at least one RLV tariff that meets infinma’s market standards. In total, 104 tariffs and therefore only 37.7 percent of the tariffs achieved the set standards.
How German citizens worry about their standard of living
German citizens see illness and accidents as the greatest risk of losing their current standard of living (46 percent). This concern is slightly more pronounced among men (48 percent) than among women (44 percent). Economic changes, especially inflation, are perceived as threatening by 43 percent. Almost a third of the population (31 percent) is concerned about low pensions and inadequate retirement provision. This emerges from a YouGov survey commissioned by Clark.
R+V Insurance warns of frost damage
In January 2023 alone, R+V Versicherung recorded frost damage worth around two million euros. “If water and heating pipes burst, there is a risk of massive water damage, which can result in expensive repairs,” says Cornelia Flörcks, expert for residential building insurance at R+V. In January 2023, R+V insured persons reported damage amounting to around two million euros. The damage was even greater in the first Corona winter of 2020/2021: At that time, the German Weather Service reported “icy cold that had not been experienced for a long time” and nighttime temperatures down to -26 degrees. R+V recorded frost damage to residential buildings amounting to 6.2 million euros in 2021.
