Hancko himself had no doubts about his contract extension. ‘I am always proud that I wear the Feyenoord shirt and can play in a swirling Kuip in front of a frenzied audience, so signing for longer was an easy decision. My first year at Feyenoord was very special with the national championship, I feel at home here in Rotterdam and I look forward to what the future brings.’
The Slovakian defender came over from Sparta Prague last summer and has since been making waves at Feyenoord. That transfer involved 8.3 million euros. In any case, Hancko himself still sees a lot of potential in Feyenoord. ‘I am convinced that there are still plenty of good things ahead. Of course I want to continue to be part of that.’

So far, Hancko has played 66 games for the Rotterdam team. In his first year he won the European championship and that is why he is also shining in the Champions League this year. Hancko is also one of the players with the most minutes in Europe’s top leagues. Only Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes missed fewer minutes than Feyenoord’s Slovakian.
