Larian releases Baldur’s Gate III immediately for Xbox Series X/S

Baldur’s Gate III is now also available for the Xbox Series X and S. Belgian developer Larian Studios announced this during the Game Awards, where the game also won Game of the Year.

Baldur’s Gate III is available now in the Xbox Store, where the game costs 70 euros. The role-playing game is therefore playable on the Xbox Series X and Series S, although the latter does not support local split-screen co-op. Larian previously said that players will be able to transfer their PC save games to Xbox and vice versa. The studio did not mention the exchange of save files between the Xbox and PlayStation at the time.

Larian announced the Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate III back in August. The game was released for PC earlier that month and a PS5 version followed in early September. The game is now also available for Macs. The game was initially unplayable on Xbox consoles because Microsoft feature parity demands for the Series X and S versions of games. Larian said that local split screen is too demanding for the Series S, and therefore could not meet that requirement. Xbox then dropped that requirement.
