BEIJING, Dec. 8, 2023 (Xinhua) — The Budapest Festival Orchestra, led by founder and director Ivan Fischer, held two concerts featuring works by Rachmaninoff, Beethoven and Schubert at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing.
The two concerts were held under the title “Ivan Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra” last Tuesday and Wednesday, and were part of the “Pure Classics 2023” festival of the National Center for the Performing Arts.
To celebrate Rachmaninov’s 150th birthday, the orchestra and pianist Anna Vinnitskaya performed three of his works, including “Piano Concerto No. 3 in D Minor, Opus 30,” during Tuesday’s concert.
Last Wednesday’s concert presented two famous pieces of music composed by Beethoven and Schubert.
The Budapest Festival Orchestra was founded by Fischer and Zoltan Kocsis in 1983, and is ranked among the top 10 orchestras in the world. Since its debut on the stage of the National Center for the Performing Arts in 2010, the orchestra has visited and performed in China several times.
