Only 36% of PC games are purchased at full price

The latest Ultra PC Gamer survey surveyed nearly 2,000 US and UK gamers aged 18 to 44. It showed that half of them play daily. Among the results, three-quarters of gamers believe the prices of AAA games are too high, and at 87% discounts are an important factor when purchasing.

Also surprising is the fact that only 36% of games are purchased at full price. Another 32% are purchased at a discount, and the remaining 32% are free.

It also turned out that 68% of respondents buy in-game content such as battle passes and skins. In addition, 75% regularly explore and purchase more accessible indie releases from digital stores. Among them, a third are attracted by the low price, and 40% are attracted by the unique creative solutions that indie games offer.

The survey also found that 36% of gamers admit to having difficulty finding new games on PC, perhaps due to the sheer number of releases each week. However, 94% read reviews before purchasing, preferring YouTube for this purpose.

When it comes to digital stores, most are familiar with Steam and the Epic Games Store. Less than 20% of players have heard of other platforms like GamesPlanet, Humble Store and GOG.
