Surabaya City Health Service Issues Precautionary Measures for Mysterious Pneumonia Outbreak

The Surabaya City Health Service (Dinkes) is starting to be wary of a mysterious pneumonia that is attacking children in China. This case has been detected in Jakarta.

In accordance with the instructions of the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) which has issued a Precautionary Letter, Nanik Sukristina, Head of the Surabaya City Health Service, has also done the same.

“For the case in the city of Surabaya, until now there have been no reports regarding the findings of cases suspected of being caused by mysterious pneumonia,” said Nanik, Friday (8/12/223).

The SE, continued Nanik, is intended for health service facilities (fasyankes) to carry out a number of anticipatory steps.

Health facilities are asked to increase communication, information and education (KIE) efforts to the community regarding clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS), as well as implementing health protocols in a strict and disciplined approach.

“Increasing early awareness, as well as increasing standards in infection prevention and control efforts in all health facilities, especially for cases of suspected pneumonia,” he explained again.

Nanik also reminded the importance of immunization Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV) in the national immunization program which is given twice at the age of 2-11 months and once at the age of 12-24 months as an effort to prevent pneumonia through health facilities in each region.

“We urge health facilities to report any cases of suspected mysterious pneumonia to the Surabaya City Health Service in less than 24 hours,” he said.

People are asked to report and seek treatment at a health facility if they have a history of travel to an infected country or region and have symptoms of pneumonia, such as dry cough or phlegm, fever of more than 38 degrees Celsius, shortness of breath, chest pain when breathing, fatigue, decreased appetite, nausea. , vomiting, and diarrhea.

“We are also monitoring the development of cases and infected countries at the global level through the official website of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, he said. (lta/and/ham/ipg)
