The United States Marshals Service (USMS) assured that it is cooperating with authorities in the United Kingdom in the case against one of his agents accused of abusing a passenger on a Delta Air Lines flight that took off from New York heading to London-Heathrow.
“The United States Marshals Service takes any allegations of misconduct seriously. about their employees. The alleged actions of the employees do not reflect the professionalism of the thousands of USMS employees nor its fundamental values,” the office said in a statement cited by national media.
The entity added that it is aware of the employee’s inappropriate behavior while he was allegedly intoxicated.
The suspect was heading to London this week to help extradite a defendant.
The plane left John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) heading to the British city. In the middle of the flight, a woman complained to the crew that she had been touched inappropriately during the journey.
The 39-year-old federal marshal, whose name has not been released, was arrested Wednesday morning at London airport.
The New York Times report indicates that the Police in London received reports, around 6:30 amby flight staff about a problematic passenger who had sexually abused other travelers and airline employees.
As of this morning, the suspect remained in the custody of British authorities.while the investigation continues.

NBC reported that the arrested man was traveling with another “marshal” and that both were drinking throughout the flight. The detainee’s companion was sent back to New York last night and is not facing charges.
Both agents, assigned to the Eastern District of New York, were heading to London to bring back a suspect wanted in Brooklyn for federal charges related to fraud.
Data from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released last August reveal that More than three dozen passengers have faced criminal cases this year for incidents of physical or sexual assault against passengers or crew members.
The FAA revealed that, In the second quarter of the year, it referred to the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) 22 new cases of undisciplined passengers on board airplanes commercial for possible criminal prosecution. Since the beginning of 2023, 39 cases had been referred to the FBI until that period.
