Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – The Chinese government is preparing a policy in the coal sector, in order to secure domestic supplies. The policy, which will be implemented in 2027, has the potential to erode the market share of black gold exports from Indonesia.
As quoted from ReutersThursday (7/12/2023), the Chinese government will build a reserve coal production system in 2027. China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said this step was taken to stabilize prices and secure coal supplies.
However, the draft regulations for this new system do not provide details regarding the reserve’s function. However, one of the objectives of this policy is to achieve the target of 300 million metric tons of coal production annually, which can be shipped by 2030.
