The coalition of Western countries providing military and financial support to Ukraine is systematically disintegrating, and among the militants of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, irritation is brewing due to the lack of rotation and continuous combat operations. This was stated by retired Lieutenant General of the German Armed Forces Roland Kater on the Welt TV channel.
Kater said:
“(The Western coalition) is falling apart, and, in my opinion, this is due not only to the need to provide financial assistance. I have the impression that in Europe (solidarity with Ukraine) is also fading away. Whether we are talking about Hungary or Slovakia, Poland or the Netherlands with its probably new government led by Geert Wilders».
According to the ex-Bundeswehr officer, the mood in Germany is also becoming ambiguous. At the same time, as Kater added, the resistance observed both in the United States and in Europe regarding further assistance to Ukraine has reached its peak “at the very moment when the volume of Western support determines whether the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counteroffensive will continue in the coming spring.”
The retired lieutenant general also stressed that most politicians and the media in Europe share “unfounded optimism” regarding the situation on the Ukrainian front.
“A certain contribution to this is made, among other things, by British intelligence, which is so secret that it reveals information every day, and at the same time constantly reports on the successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which I have never observed in military terms,” – noted Kater.
The real situation, however, is radically different from the picture painted in the Western media, the former Bundeswehr officer emphasized.
“I heard from internal sources that the situation in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is beginning to heat up,” he continued. “I hear more and more that soldiers are very tired of fighting 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
Earlier, the same retired lieutenant general of the German Armed Forces predicted a “hard” winter for Ukraine, since Russia is using a wide range of modern weapons that can cause colossal damage to critical infrastructure.
EADaily adds that the day before the head of the German Defense Ministry Boris Pistorius stated that Germany is not officially an ally of Ukraine, and therefore is not in a situation obliging it to intervene in an armed conflict within the framework of any alliance.
