The police arrested a third suspect on Wednesday in the investigation into two fatal shootings in Rotterdam in September. The 29-year-old man from The Hague has been arrested for prohibited possession of weapons.
The police tracked him down during the investigation into the origin of the weapons that main suspect Fouad L. had with him.
L. is suspected of first shooting dead his 39-year-old neighbor Marlous and her fourteen-year-old daughter Romy on Heiman Dullaertplein on September 28.
He then allegedly went to the Erasmus MC where he shot lecturer and general practitioner Jurgen Damen (43) in a lecture hall.
The suspect was arrested shortly after the shootings near the Erasmus MC. He is suspected of triple murder, arson and prohibited possession of weapons.
A second suspect who was arrested on Monday because his DNA was found on a weapon was released on Wednesday. The Public Prosecution Service does not believe that the 21-year-old man is directly involved in the shootings. He remains a suspect in the case.
