América announced the termination of striker Everaldo’s employment contract. The player generated controversy by not showing up for the game in the last round of Series A, this Wednesday (6), at 7pm (Brasília time), against Goiás, in Goiânia, and publishing a photo of him standing next to the family on a trip to the United States.
Everaldo was expected at Coelho’s presentation this Tuesday (5), but instead he posted the image on his social networks on a plane, with emojis indicating a trip from Brazil to the USA. “Holidays”, the athlete also wrote.
Shortly after publication, Itatiaia contacted Marcus Salum, president of América’s Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF), who stated that the club was caught by surprise and that Everaldo would be “exemplarily punished”.
The athlete’s staff reported that the athlete was recovering from a chin procedure. Everaldo had a contract with América until June 2026.
