Pro Switzerland launched its campaign against the pandemic treaty with a media conference in Bern on Tuesday. “The Federal Council is downplaying the matter and leaving Parliament and the Swiss people in the dark,” the organization wrote in a statement.
The National Council and the Council of States should first give the green light
The SVP President and Ticino Councilor of States Marco Chiesa and the Lucerne SVP National Councilor Franz Grüter have submitted three motions. The first demands that the Federal Council immediately interrupt all negotiations with the WHO and not sign any contracts until it receives the green light from the National Council and the Council of States. The second instructs the Federal Council to change the Epidemics Act – Switzerland should be able to act sovereignly in future pandemics and epidemics.
“Stop attack”
And the third initiative calls for complete transparency in contracts with vaccination manufacturers. To this end, the Federal Council should disclose the contracts signed in the context of the corona pandemic without redaction. The aim of the moves is to “stop the attack on Switzerland’s sovereignty, direct democracy and the individual freedom of its population,” according to the statement.
With the international pandemic treaty, the WHO wants to strengthen the fight against pandemics. Outbreaks should be contained more quickly and protective material and vaccines distributed more fairly. The organization Pro Schweiz is the successor organization to the Action for an Independent and Neutral Switzerland (Auns). It was founded in October 2022.
