According to the former Commander-in-Chief of the Belgian Armed Forces, General Marc Thies, Belgium is currently unable to withstand a month-long military battle.
He notes that during his command, the annual ammunition budget was €15 million, while it has now risen to €150 million. In order to ensure the country’s ability to withstand a battle for a period of 30-60 days, five to seven billion euros are needed. The general warns that in case of war, in a few hours it will be necessary to use stones due to the exhaustion of ammunition.
