Presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo responding to a flick from the vice presidential candidate number 2 and mayor of Surakarta, Gibran Rakabuming Raka regarding the facilities and infrastructure of vocational high schools in Central Java which are outdated or “old school”.

According to him, the facilities and infrastructure that are considered old school at vocational schools in Central Java have proven to be able to produce graduates who are ready to work.

“Even old school can produce ready-to-use workers, let alone modern ones,” said Ganjar after visiting Loa Kulu Market, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan, Wednesday (6/12).

However, Ganjar was happy to get input from President Jokowi’s eldest son. On the other hand, Ganjar believes that Gibran is ready to hold a presidential/vice presidential debate in the 2024 presidential election. He even denied the rumors circulating that Gibran was not ready to face the debate.

“He was ready (for the debate) and had notes and coincidentally, when the consortium was created, I joined him,” he said.

Ganjar revealed that he and Gibran had actually formed a consortium of large companies to improve infrastructure at vocational schools, such as computers.

Therefore, the former Governor of Central Java sees Gibran as a young man full of creativity. This is shown by his readiness to help anyone regardless of their background.

Previously, Gibran Rakabuming Raka highlighted vocational school facilities and infrastructure in Central Java which were already “outdated” during the Ganjar Pranowo administration. This was conveyed by Gibran Rakabuming Raka when responding to a complaint from one of the students at the Asshiddiqiyah Islamic Boarding School 2, Tangerang City, Banten, Monday (4/12).

The student talked about how technology in Islamic boarding schools lags behind industrial needs.

“These are the types of questions that friends in vocational school also often ask. I said earlier, ‘problems’mismatch‘between schools and the industrial world,” said Gibran in front of the students.

Gibran said he had visited several vocational schools in Central Java when he first served as Mayor of Solo. At that time, Ganjar Pranowo served as Governor of Central Java.

He said that actually vocational school infrastructure is not the domain of the mayor, but the governor. However, Gibran dared to form a consortium of large companies to improve infrastructure at vocational schools, such as computers.

“Back when I first took office in Solo, we visited several vocational schools. Actually, vocational schools are not the domain of the mayor, but the domain of the governor. But because the situation was not good, we took the courage to create a consortium consisting of companies- “big companies such as Astra, Sinar Mas,” said Gibran.

“We formed them to guard state vocational schools which previously apologized, the computers were still ‘old school’ or the equipment was still not updated. We are updating everything,” he concluded.
