Freed Hostages: “We Fear Israel Will Kill Us, Not Hamas”

Israelis kidnapped by Hamas feared they would be killed by airstrikes from their own country’s army, and their deaths were being blamed on Hamas, not the government military, a freed hostage said on Tuesday (5/12/2023).
The unnamed woman spoke during a heated meeting between Israel’s War Cabinet and recently freed hostages and the families of other people still being held in Gaza, according to Israeli news site Ynet.
“I was there and I know how difficult it is to be in a hostage situation,” said a woman kidnapped from kibbutz Nir Oz.
“We are sitting in the tunnel and we are very afraid not of Hamas, but of Israel itself who will kill us, and then Israel will say, ‘Hamas killed you.'”

The woman added: “So, I ask as soon as possible to start exchanging prisoners and everyone must return home.”
“There are no priorities. “Everyone is important,” he said, urging an immediate prisoner exchange.
The woman also described herself as being “inside the house when there was shooting everywhere,”.
This is in line with the confessions of other freed hostages, who said that they were moved by their captors.
