1. Phoenicid Meteor Shower

The Phoenicid meteor shower actually took place from November 28 – December 9. However, the peak of this phenomenon has passed, namely on December 2.

This meteor shower will appear from the Phoenix constellation. During its peak phase, there are at least 12 meteors per hour. This Phoenicid meteor shower originates from debris from comet D/1819 W1 (Blanpain).

2. Puppid Velids Meteor Shower

The Puppid Velids meteor shower will take place from December 1-15 and will reach its peak on December 7.

When this meteor shower reaches its peak it will have a rate of 10 meteors per hour when it reaches its maximum. This meteor shower can be observed after the Puppis constellation and will appear at 20:27 WIB until dawn.

The best time to observe the peak of the Puppid Velids meteor shower is 03:00 WIB when the meteor’s direction point is at the highest point in the sky. The moon that has just passed its final neap phase rises at midnight.

3. Geminid Meteor Shower

The Geminid meteor shower will be an interesting attraction in the night sky. When the peak phase occurs, this phenomenon will produce up to 150 meteors per hour.

This meteor shower will appear to come from the twin constellation Gemini. In fact, this meteor shower will last from November 19 to December 24 2023, and its peak will occur on December 14.

The Geminid meteor shower originates from the debris of the asteroid 3200 Phaethon. This phenomenon can be observed after the constellation Gemini rises at 20:03 WIB.

4. Ursid Meteor Shower

The Ursid meteor shower will take place from 13 to 24 December 2023, and appears to come from the constellation Ursa Minor. This means that only observers in the Northern Hemisphere or above the equator can enjoy the trajectory of the Ursid meteor.

The peak of the Ursid meteor shower will occur from 21 to 22 December 2023 and meteors passing through the sky will move at a speed of 33 km/hour.

When it reaches maximum intensity, observers can only see 10 meteors per hour from the remainder of comet 8P/Tuttle that passes by Earth.
