John Travolta Opens Up About Near Death Experience during Flight

Actor and pilot, John Travolta (69) opens up about the flight that was about to go seriously wrong.

– Had a lot of questions

He does that below The London premiere of the Disney+ short film “The Shepherd”, which tells the story of a Royal Air Force pilot who experiences an electrical failure on his plane.

It is an experience the actor himself has felt on his body.

– I experienced total electrical failure in a corporate jet over Washington DC, he said Variety.

– Thought I was going to die

As if that wasn’t terrifying enough in itself, Travolta also had his family on board. The actor said that the film had managed to capture precisely the despair he felt when he thought life was going to end.

– It’s absolutely horrible

– I know how it feels to think you’re going to die. I had two working jet engines, but I had no instruments, no electricity, nothing. And I thought it was over.

– I said “that was it”. I can’t believe I’m going to die on this plane, he said.

Real threat

Finally, the actor managed to make an emergency landing at the Ronald Reagan airport in Washington. In a report which The Washington Post published afterwards, the investigators concluded that “the threat of a mid-air collision was very real”.

The flight took place in 1992, and the report also stated that the plane was dangerously close to colliding with a Boeing 727 on its way to New York.
