Lawsuit for $42 million dollars: mother died in childbirth in New York; Her boyfriend was Hispanic-El Diario NY

The family of Christine Fields, a “healthy” 30-year-old mother who died after giving birth last month in Brooklyn, NY, has filed a $42 million lawsuit.

Fields was normally expecting the birth of her third child when she died. “We were looking forward to having a wedding this year,” she told Daily News her boyfriend and father of the baby, José Pérez. “But she ended up pregnant and we put it on hold.” She was “a great mother. “She spent every minute she could with her children,” he added.

What was supposed to be a joyful occasion full of blessings and promises turned into a nightmare riddled with heartbreak and pain. The three-day odyssey began on Nov. 11, when Fields entered Brooklyn’s Woodhull Medical Center to give birth.

After 10 hours of labor, the unborn baby’s heart rate dropped. The next day, according to the family, Fields had a emergency cesarean section despite your objections, but she was conscious and responsive after the baby was born. The family left her room and were later told that her mother had passed away. They are still awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

“Three children ages 3 and 5 and a newborn will now be raised without a mother,” said the family’s attorney, Sanford Rubinstein. “This is tragic. “This family had no reason to think this was not going to be a healthy birth.”

The family’s lawsuit alleges that the Medical negligence was responsible for the death. According to attorney Ira Newman, a Rubenstein partner specializing in malpractice cases, Fields had experienced a “normal” pregnancy without complications.

“After the cesarean section, she suffered cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead around 3 or 4 in the morning on November 13,” Newman detailed.

The hospital declined to provide information about Fields’ care, citing medical privacy laws. “The health and safety of our patients is our top priority, and we express our deepest condolences to those affected by this tragic loss,” spokesman Christopher Miller said in a statement.

Fields’ mother, Deneen Witherspoon, insists she needs answers. “My daughter was healthy,” said. “She was my heart. “Now I have to help raise three children who have no mother.”
